Disappointment is something that occurs in everyone’s day. It is so common that it is unfortunately often ignored- and that can lead to devastating consequences.
The brain does not have an on-off switch that allows us to ‘will’ negative emotions away. Rather, the brain overrides our wishes and sends out stress hormones and suppresses "happy" neurochemicals, that can lead to distraction, lack of confidence and overall underperformance. If not addressed compounding disappointments can lead to anxiety and depression. But there are ways to bring those feel-good neurochemicals back, in order to get on with your day and life.
This experience allows you to personally understand how your brain processes disappointment and how you can regain your focus to becoming more productive. You will be introduced to techniques to practice, that reduce the impact of the effects of disappointment and support healthy, mental pathways to a productive future.
Support In Loss
Loss can bring about a host of emotions including anxiety, anger, loneliness and hopelessness. How to be a support to someone experiencing loss is a critical life skill. You will be called, at some point in your life, to answer the need to support someone, with rarely adequate time to prepare.
This session introduces the state of loss, from the grievers perspective and sets guidelines as to what words and actions are most supportive and which can trigger unintentional emotional spirals. Understanding from their point of view is the beginning, learning how to walk with them through the valleys in life, is invaluable.
Rejection, whether perceived or real, can paralyze our thoughts, cloud our judgement and misdirect our actions. The impact over time, can erode self-confidence, robbing us of the satisfaction of reaching goals. Without the proper tools to deal with the experience, the mental strain can be debilitating and lead to avoidance.
This session introduces the concept of rejection from an awareness perspective and offers techniques to help understand the path that led to this emotional experience. Rejection is an experience we all have faced from time-to-time and moving past the emotional fog is critical to ensure it doesn't stop your momentum moving forward. You will be guided through a process that helps you recognize the valuable lessons rejection offers, as you engage in self-evaluation regarding whether the lesson is worthy of holding on to or letting go. The goal is to learn and grow from the experience, in order to move on, by building strong mental pathways that support your goals.
